The rookies are taking a whack at it

Ed and I know NOTHING about gardening.  Literally nothing.  But we have a side yard and we love organic fruit, but hate the cost.  And of course the prophet has been telling us...pretty much my whole life...to have a garden.  So - we've watched some youtube videos and we are taking a crack at it.  And so far...it's back breaking work.  Haha.  Our side yard was DENSELY overgrown with weeds. 

So I spent 3 days pulling out all the weeds, with a little help from Allison & Kelly and the last day Ed tackled the last corner.  He was sick all the other days.  =)  And now we have purchased and built 3 raised beds...so that's as far as we have gotten.  The beds are built, but nothing inside yet. 

But what will we plant!?  Well since we want true organic...we ordered true organic seeds.  So we will have strawberries, yukon gold potatoes, big beef tomatoes, spinach, carrots, and soybeans!!!  All our seeds have arrived so we're just waiting for the garden to be finished (the plan is by the end of next week to plant!)  The rest of the side yard will be decorative rock/stones or whatever.  Low maintenance as we can.  We'd also like to get some fruit trees eventually to go in our back yard - currently there are bushes and trees that are decorative back there so we'll just replace =)

We'll see how all this goes.  Edward has faith that it will all work out.  So far it's been a funny process just getting to this point so I can't wait to see what lies ahead.
