Allison and Kelly have really become the best big sisters anyone could ask for. They absolutely adore their baby sister...STILL! It hasn't worn off! They STILL want to hold her and change diapers and keep her entertained while I clean or cook or just have a sane minute. They even still thank Heavenly FAther for her every night in their prayers. They are so helpful and I'm so grateful for them. I'm so glad there hasn't been any jealousy with Ashlee taking up most of our time, they just come right along and help out so it all works out. What good attitudes they have! I couldn't be more proud of them.
Well - Ashlee had struggles in the beginning with an inefficient suck and breastfeeding her felt more like a science experiment because of the tubes and syringes....but thankfully by 6 weeks she was able to get rid of all that and she's been eating like a champ since then. We tried out solid foods when she was 5 months and once we got the idea of a spoon in her mouth down she loved it...a little too much and she went on a nursing strike. So I promptly took it away and we went back to exclusive breastfeeding. Now that she's six months we decided to give it a go again and so far so good. I make sure to nurse her first and then feed solids after so I think that is helping. She LOVES peas and since she's had a spoon before it was very easy to get her to start up again. Especially since she's been VERY grabby with my plate of food lately and even my cups. So she has her own Nuby cup that she hasn't figured out very well yet, but it at least keeps her from attacking mine at the moment.
Ashlee HATED tummy time since birth...and still doesn't love it. So I was a little afraid she'd never learn to roll over or crawl or anything like that cause she just would cry herself to sleep without even trying. She finally rolled over from her back to her tummy at 4 1/2 months. However, she sat up very early. She's been sitting with her hands down since 4 months, sitting unsupported by her hands since 4/12 months. So she's started to experiment with moving from her sitted position and since 5 1/2 months she's been up on all fours and rocking. Today she started to move a little...almost crawling but not quite there. I also found her the other day pulling herself up into a standing position. She's still pretty wobbly, but she's doing it. She still gets mad and screams anytime she ends up on her tummy though. =)
She's thankfully become a little more independent and I don't have to hold her all day...that lasted all the way til about 5 months. Once she got really good at sitting up unsupported and could hold and play with her toys while sitting then she'd let me at least do something (like clean or cook) while she sat on the floor. But I better not take too long because she thinks I should be on the floor playing too. Oh if only mommy could sit and play all day, Ashlee.
We have been traveling with her almost since birth and so I laugh a little when I read an article on my babycenter that suggested we travel for the first time with the baby last month! She's already been to San Fran a couple times, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Vegas, and of course our place in Pollock Pines several times. This little girl will see the world just like her Mama. She went out to her first restaurant when she as 8 days old and we always would get compliments when we were out by people for "getting out". Most people thought it was her first time out everytime we went - so they were astonished when we said - she's been going out with us since she was a week old. She's a super behaved baby. I think she's loud sometimes because she loves her "Mmmmmm" sound and does it all the time...but everyone always tells me how quiet she is. All I know is I recognize that I am one lucky mama to have such a well behaved baby.
My favorite things are when she puts her hands on my face and brings it close to hers and she does a loud "Mmmmmmmmmm". I imagine it's her way of saying I Love You cause it's so darn sweet! It just melts my heart. She also is the best morning person. When she wakes up she is ALL smiles and giggles. I'll pick her up out of her bed and put her in bed with me and she'll just lay there and smile and giggle at me while stroking my face and snuggling until I fully wake up. It's the best drug ever - you can't help but be happy with that little girl smiling at you.
She has the best little laugh - it actually reminds me of my niece Brooklyn's laugh - and it just makes me laugh to hear it. She's a smart little whip and a pistol for sure. She's testing her lungs lately and does lots of high pitched squeals all the time. What can I say - I love that girl!
So here are pics from all 6 months so you can see how she's grown. She's still small - I'll get the official weight on Monday, but she's about 15 pounds right now. Last doctor's appointment she was under the 25% percentile in weight and height...so we love out little petite princess and my arms are grateful that she's not any bigger than she is. =)

Very cute Kristi and it's fun to hear how she is growing and how well everything is going for you. We loved our "little" baby too! Last year he finally made it onto the charts above the 7% (in weight and height). ;) He feels so heavy to me now and I have to remind myself how heavy he could be. You've just got to enjoy it as long as you can! :)
