NO TRAINING WHEELS!!!

So Kelly & Allison wanted to go on a bike ride today.  I raised up Kelly's training wheels a while ago and she's been leaning severely to the right since then....so today I kept reminding her she had to balance.  We rode our bikes over to the school and she practiced her balancing until she had it down!  As we were taking a break she said she wanted to take off her training wheels RIGHT NOW.  I told her that I couldn't cause I didn't have the wrench (I thought they were on pretty tight)...and she replies - Well I can!  So she bends down and unscrews the training wheels and takes them off.

I helped her balance to start off but after probably 2 seconds she no longer needed me and she was cruising!  After she got used to going straight I taught her how to kick off so she didn't need me to balance her and she picked that up immediately as well.  Then came turning - that took a little more convincing.  She was afraid so she just wouldn't do it, but I talked her through her first turn and all of a sudden she was turning like a champ!  Sadly Dad wasn't there, cause I certainly wasn't expecting this...so I took this short video of her ride and sent it to him.

It was a little sad for Ed to miss, but he was happy for me that I have something special with Kelly.  It's hard for him for his little girls to grow up so fast as I'm sure every parents feels the same way.  Ed was able to join us shortly after she conquered it and he was able to share in her excitement and cheer her on so that was good.  So... Way to go Kelly!!! - one for learning to do it - two for being a champ and practically teaching yourself - and three for getting back up on your bike when you fell and only the crying one time you really hit hard.  You're a rockstar.

Kelli was inspiration for Logan today. I showed him the video and of course, had to remind him of who she was. When I told him they were the same age he asked me if I could take him on his bike. I actually had Riley asleep so we went out and he rode without training wheels! Keep in mind, Logan has only ridden a bike like 2-3 times. The street is too busy and when we go out he rides in the trailer. So, a BIG THANK YOU, to Kelli for being such an inspiration to her cousin! =) Love you lots! I'm gonna video tape it and post it soon.
