I am Suzie Sensitive. Or atleast that's what my co-worker started calling me today. I think we all know that I'm a bit blunt sometimes. Well today was no exception. I'm sitting at my desk as work doing some stats and reports for the end of the month. Here is how the conversation goes:
Front desk: "You're needed in the Game Room - there is an emergency."
Me: "What's the emergency?
Front Desk: "A child has their arm stuck in the pool table"
Me: "Are you kidding me? I'll be there in a second."
So my co-worker and I start walking to the game room. Now all the staff are like "Kristi Kristi - they need you there is a kid with their arm stuck!" As I continue WALKING I said "He's not going anywhere. I'm on my way."
We get to room and the child is on the floor with their arm ALL THE WAY up the ball return on the pool table. Genius right. Apparently the balls has gotten stuck so instead of asking the staff in the game room for help - he decides he'll reach up the small hole and see if he can get the balls down. So up the arm goes....and down the balls come...now his arm is WEDGED in the hole. He can't move his arm AT ALL. So I go and sit by him and I look at the situation. I have pretty small hands so I reach up there so see if I can get the ball to move at all. The kid starts crying - and here is the convo that follows:
Kid: OW! THAT HURTS!
Me: Well YEAH. You stuck your hand up a ball return! It's going to hurt! But you won't do it again - will you!?
Kid: (whimpering) noooooooo
Anyways - long story short - I called the fire department - 5 minutes later NINE...that's right a slow day for the fire department...NINE fire guys show up. They then process to RIP my pool table apart and after about 20 minutes and a lot of crying on the kid's part - the arm is free. I'm down a pool table. (Which I promptly asked the fire guys if I could code the replacement bill back to fire...to which they laughed)
Mom was grateful for all our help and the kid wanted to stay so she let him. So no harm no foul...but my co-worker started calling me Suzie Sensitive for the rest of the day. I could work on my compassion. But hey - I'm not the one who stuck my hand in a ball return!

We read this last night on Facebook and both laughed cuz we could hear the whole thing in our mind's. ;) I'm sorry about the pool table but glad everything worked out okay. And don't tell me you didn't love having 9 fireman come to "your" rescue. ;)
True that. Firemen are hot!
