Okay Valentine's day...typically the worst day ever for a single person. And trust me...I've been single a LONG time. I have never ever had a boyfriend over Valentine's day...not even someone who slightly hearted me. And so it's a "holiday" that I LOATHE. =) But this year...was phenomenal! I had the BEST Valentine's day ever! Actually I had a great WEEK! I just have a great life.
So - remember the "fling" from Israel...well I made contact. One day he was on facebook and I thought - I'm just going to say "How's it going?" and see what happens. If he doesn't respond then I'll just unfriend him and forget that he ever existed. Good plan right? Definitely. He responded and it turns out he was going to be in Vegas the next week and so I asked if he was going to call - and he said "for sure!" And although I didn't believe him really...I was a little excited. So Tuesday night - surprise surprise he calls! AND we go out...like on a real date. I mean - car doors were opened, dinner & ice cream, GREAT conversation, lots of laughter...we went back to my place and talked some more and watched a movie and just reconnected. It was fabulous. I had such a great time. At the end of the night we left it as - he'll call me when he's in town and I'll call him. My favorite quote of the night "I don't know what to do or say - we live HOURS apart....literally HOURS!" That's all he needed to say - at least I know that I wasn't just a booty call - I think he must like me at least a LITTLE bit to make that comment - it was completely unnecessary - he could have said - I had a great night - see ya and that would have been fine. He lives in UT and I live here. But he was here to test for metro - so I just said "I'm rooting for metro" in response. So everyone - root for metro. =) So that started out my week.
And then - Friday - I ran...I know - I HATE running. Absolutely LOATHE running. But I did it. I got out there and I had a goal and I met it. Now really this doesn't make a spectacular day - but it reminds me that it wasn't that long ago that I couldn't run very far because I was too overweight. I LOVE my new life. I LOVE that I can push myself harder and harder everyday. I may never reach runner's high - but that is my own personal little high - when I finished my run yesterday and I was SO incredibly pleased with myself and my accomplishments. So I doing a triathlon in April and all I have to say is....bring it on. I've got this! I finished out my Friday night by going swing dancing (you all know how much I love that!!!). Couldn't ask for a better day.
Saturday - the great great Valentine's day! I got up early and went snowboarding at Lee Canyon. Now Lee Canyon is not the best, but it's good to work on improving my skill...and there is an added bonus. His name is Jonathan and he works there. He's VERY cute and fun...and he hearts me. Now I'm a horrible person and I MILK this. He doesn't even know my name. To him I'm "mean girl". Now I got the name because the first time we met I was with my friends and the truck we rode up in had a license plate that said something like "meanone" or something like that...so that is how Jonathan started a conversation with me. Since then I've flirted mercilessly! Now the benefits that I get from this is that Jonathan gets me VIP parking...he always points me to the closest parking spot instead of having me park where everyone else does. =) And then at the end of my day yesterday he was at the lodge as I was heading out. He stopped me to talk for a bit and then offered me a ride back to my car. So he gave me a ride back...took the long way back so we could continue our conversation and then dropped me off. I started putting gear in my car and taking off my boots, etc and after a while he drove back around to say goodbye again. I parked next to a group of Hawaiians that are always up there and have been watching this develop for a while. When he drove away the last time the Hawaiians started laughing and were like "HE LIIIIIIIIIKES YOU!" It was HILARIOUS.
After boarding - I took my car into the shop. The guy at the shop (Also named Jon...coincidence?) has helped me the last 3 times I've been in...and he totally remembers everything about me...so I love that. Now THAT is customer service. Down to the bike that I just recently bought - seriously this guy remembers everything about my life. So after he gets my car all fixed and ready - he takes me over to the cashier and gave me a 50% discount. Yep...that's right. Flirting works.
After the shop I went home and chilled for a while...then I went to dinner with my friends Sarah, Mike, and Preciliano. After dinner we goofed around at Wal-mart getting a movie and popcorn and went back to Mike's to watch it. Then 3 more guys show up...another Mike, Greg, and Earl. Yep that's right - Sarah and I find ourselves on a date with 5 guys...that's right FIVE. Take that VALENTINES! haha. It was great fun because the 2nd Mike and I are good buds to the point of we flirt ALOT -- but we have ZERO actual interest in each other - so it goes a little far sometimes and its funny. So Valentine's day was no exception. Greg and Earl are relatively new friends for me but I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And they are so fun - so the whole night was just goofing around...making fun of the sappy movie we watched, giving out dating advice, and a Kristi burrito at one point. I love my guy friends...they make me happy.
So yeah - my life is great. I can't even begin complain about anything because I am one lucky girl!!
